What Week One Is Actually Measuring

Somewhere between day seven and day twelve, most people who are going to give up on a supplement give up on it. It is worth being precise about what that week can and cannot answer.

What week one measures. Two things, both useful. Whether the capsule agrees with you, which mostly comes down to whether it went down with food. And whether you can remember to take it, which turns out to be the harder of the two.

What it does not measure. Anything you bought it for. That is not a marketing evasion; it follows from how the ingredients are studied. Effects in this category, where they appear at all, appear across weeks rather than days.

Why the timing feels right regardless. A week is the unit we give most things. Painkillers work in an hour. Antibiotics announce themselves in days. A new pair of shoes is comfortable or it is not. The expectation carries over even though nothing about this product fits it.

The one same-day exception. Gymnema acts on the tongue rather than through the bloodstream, so the taste effect can turn up on the first dose. Noticing it confirms gymnema is present and doing its job. It says nothing about the other thirteen names.

A better question for day nine. Not "is it working" but "have I taken it nine times". The second question has an answer, it is entirely within your control, and it is the thing that determines whether week four will mean anything at all.

Why the window is longer than the test. Four weeks is one bottle and the shortest honest trial. The refund window runs sixty days, which leaves room to finish a bottle, think about it, and still act. That gap is the most useful feature of the policy and the reason to hold off judgement on day nine.
